Hell even Atelier Sophie, a port (by Koei Tecmo of all companies) released not even a year later on PC, is $30 compared to the $60 on PS4 (and still $60 there).Ĭould give tons more examples.but suffice it to say I'm expecting it to be $25. Lots of others followed the same trend, and many of the 'larger' indie games are hitting $40 which some even going the $60 route. There's been, effectively, pretty massive inflation in PC games' prices Consider for instance, Shantae: Half Genie Genie which only launched a couple months before Hollow Knight for $20, and the sequal Shantae and the Seven Sirens earlier this year for $30. In the almost four years since things have become VERY different. As they mentioned when they first released Hollow Knight, the reason they picked the $15 (USD) price tag was to ensure that as many people bought and played the game as possible. Originally posted by Phirestar:Perhaps not object, but Team Cherry would have to be considerate about a price increase. Both have the same outcome as before: you sell to less people, and make less profit as a result. On the opposing end, setting the price too low results in a chance of someone looking at your game with an impression of, "Well if they're selling it for that cheap, it must not have much to it." Or even worse, a really low price comes with the stigma of something possibly being shovelware. If you price a higher price, you might make more per individual, but fewer people are willing to purchase the game. There's an important balance that has to be met, between number of copies sold versus profit-per-unit. Perhaps not object, but Team Cherry would have to be considerate about a price increase. I don't think anyone would object to HK having such a price as well. Other similar games like Ori or Shantae all cost around that price this year. However, I think it would be completely reasonable from Team Cherry to go with 30 bucks. I did just buy Sakuna for 40 and I expect hallow knight to have as much or more content.
